Paranormal Investigators: Past & Present: Erwin Olde

Erwin OldeParanormal Investigators Nederlands

Today we travel to the Netherlands to meet Erwin and Mariska Olde. Erwin has replied to my questions in such a manner that I haven’t had to edit or write much at all, so without further ado, let me introduce Erwin and Mariska of Paranormal Investigators Nederland
Erwin

My name is Erwin Olde and I am married to Mariska (also an investigator of PIN). I was born in Hoogeveen – The Netherlands and we are still living there.

Ever since I was a young boy the paranormal always interested me. Although my parents didn't believe me if I told them that I saw dark figures in the hallway. But I knew then that what I saw was real.

Since 2002 I started to do some research on my own. I always knew that there was more so I surfed the web for more information about the paranormal and about investigations. The years went on and on and in 2010 I met Ronny (Team NPRT) and he invited us for an investigation. In December 2010 my wife and I decided to start our own team and PIN (Paranormal Investigators Nederland) was born.
Mariska

Being an investigator changed my life. People depend on you, they want your opinion because they know that we believe them. Being an investigator is a way of life.

As I mentioned before, we started PIN in 2010. This is my first team and it will also be my last team. As the founder of PIN, I am also an investigator and most of the time responsible for the daily business (speaking with clients, arrange meetings etc.) Currently, our team has 4 investigators and 1 medium who will support us during an investigation. This person doesn't join us when we are on an investigation, But we can depend on her.

There are many great places to investigate like old castles or a very old forest. But also private homes are great to investigate.
The great thing about being an investigator is that every place you visit you get to know more about the history of a certain area.

Fortress Island IJmuiden
The 3 locations that impressed me the most(so far)are Fortress Island IJmuiden, an old factory and of course my first investigation as a team. All locations are in the Netherlands.

But there are some locations that I really would like to investigate like Waverley Hills (2015), Edinburgh and the Queen Mary 2 and of course, there is a location in Australia, I believe it’s the Westwood Sanatorium, Queensland. But we are also working on a new project about the second world war.

Paranormal investigations are always interesting because you never know what will happen. This year we did an investigation in a private home. Suddenly I got the feeling that the entity was trying to “attack” me because he didn't like my presence  At the and of the investigation we did a ghostbox session and one of the team members asked if the person liked me, the answer was “no”. But the best piece of evidence we have so far was captured on Fortress Island IJmuiden. In this footage, you see 2 white shadows passing by our camera’s and a few seconds later you see the camera moving.

My favourite piece of equipment is my voice recorder. But also the MEL-meter. But there are many cool things to get online. But the voice recorder is a great piece of equipment and probably the most important piece of equipment. But the DVR-system is also great because you can monitor the investigators at a distance and if you see something “strange” on the monitor or the investigator noticed something you can immediately take notes of the action.

At this moment we are very busy with a co-operation with 2 other teams (GH-NrWup – Thomas and NPRT – Ronny). I am always prepared to help people and to inform them about the paranormal.
cemetery in Hallum (The Netherlands)

Since December 2011 we are working with a producer, she is making a pilot for the Dutch TV about paranormal investigators in The Netherlands. I am also being asked for an American Radio station to join them live in their radio station.

Our website (www.p-i-n.nl) is currently under construction, but every new item concerning our investigations, the team of news will also be published on our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Paranormal-Investigators-Nederland/221560347908042

We also have Hyves (pi-n.hyves.nl, it is a Dutch social network, and we want to use this for education, information about the paranormal,  especially for children.

Stigmata: Conclusion

The Stigmata what have learned?

Over the length of the Stigmata series on the Eidolon Paranormal Blog, we have described a great number of similar occurrences and detailed differing types of stigmata, as well as brought you a broad spectrum of people, from saints to everyday people, right across the globe, from this we have learnt the following aspects about Stigmata.

Stigmata is mainly felt by Catholics (with very rare cases outside the Faith)
Stigmata can affect Holy people, but also everyday people.
The first, and only recognised Stigmata case by the Roman Catholic Church is that of St. Francis of Assisi
The wounds can appear on the hands or the wrists of those with Stigmata.
Visions usually accompany the Stigmata, mostly they are of the Virgin Mary, Jesus or a Saint, but in at least one case they have been of the Devil.
Stigmata appears to be psychological to the medical community, but it is still unknown as to why the and how the physical attributes happen
When one case of Stigmata “breaks out”, it is usually followed in quick succession by others reporting Stigmata, with no valid connections to one and another, other than being Catholic, afterwards a long period will occur when no cases are reported.
Hemography – Blood used from Stigmata wounds forms letters and symbols on clothing and bandages to form Symbolic words or meanings to the Catholic Faith.
Other supernatural phenomena usually coincide with stigmata such as bilocation, prophecy, revelations, soul connections, connections with spirit and Jesus and levitation.
As of yet, no-one in Australia has reported Stigmata
almost all cases of stigmata report the blood from the wounds having a “rose” scent – the same scent is apparent with those who have incorruptible bodies ( http://eidolonparanormal.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/proof-of-god-incorruptible-body.html)
Stigmata was once enough of a miracle for someone to become a Saint after death, the Catholic Church no recognises it alone as such an honour to beatify someone.

Stigmata is still an often overlooked supernatural phenomenon, most likely as most paranormal investigators today laugh off anything religious as being “out there”, which if you think about it is rather ridiculous with so many chasing demons and other biblical creatures, and the whole paranormal community being a little “out there”
There is much in the Bible describing supernatural and paranormal phenomena that are overlooked whilst people chase ghosts, or get stuck in Church Dogma, but there seem to be no paranormal investigation teams interested in researching the phenomena like Stigmata that is still happening in modern times.
It would be great to see more teams look further afield than ghosts, UFO's and Bigfoot, and search other phenomena.
The Stigmata will continue to be a mystery until a sufferer comes forward and allows real medical teams and scientists to study their bodies, wounds and minds and find try to make sense of what is happening, the phenomena could be psychosomatic, self mutilation or indeed of God, but until any real documented, unbiased research is concluded we will never know the truth.

The Alkimos - A Cursed Wreck.

The Alkimos

Lying off the coast of Western Australia, close to Yanchep, is the ruins of a merchant sea vessel that many believe is not only haunted but cursed as well.

The Alkimos was originally named the Viggo Hansteen and was used by the Norwegian Shipping and Trade Mission. It was built during World War 2 and saw active service, often transporting troops and cargo across the Mediterranean, for 18 months.

In August 1944, whilst docked at Naples, Canadian radio operator, Maude Steane was shot, and killed by another crew member, who then went on to commit suicide.

After the war, the ship was sold to a Greek company who then renamed it Alkimos, a Greek God who represents strength.

For the next 20 years, the Alkimos crossed the globe as a cargo vessel. In 1963 the vessel was in Australian waters, leaving Western Australia when it hit a reef off the coast. It was towed back to Fremantle for repairs.

It was then to be towed by an ocean-going tug from Hong Kong, but only a few hours from the port, the tow line snapped, and with the currents, the ship was driven into the shore. It couldn't be floated, so it was filled with water to make sure it didn’t move with the tides, and an on-board caretaker was installed to look after the ship and make sure no-one came to salvage its steel.

In January 1964 the ship was successfully re-floated and was ready to be pulled by tugboat to Manila when local authorities seized the Tugboat! - The Alkimos was left anchored where it sat, eventually the anchor broke and the ship, again held by the current, was moved along the shore, this time onto the Eglinton Rocks near Yanchep.

The damage this time was far too great for the ship to be re-floated, and it was abandoned where it sat. Salvage workers were invited to scrap the vessel, and began to do so – during this time the ship was owned by 8 different people, who it is said suffered a curse from the ship, with almost all dying inexplicably or suffering money problems, or illness – all their problems would seem to be cured or solved as since as the ship was sold on to the next person.

The workers hired to salvage the ship soon left the vessel after hearing ghostly noises and witnessing tools move on their own, some workers even reported tools disappearing before their eyes, only to return at a later time. Almost all the workers would not leave their cabins during the salvage at night, as they claimed ghostly footsteps would follow them down the hallways, there were also claims of seeing a spectre dressed in oilskins, and all crew would report the smell of food cooking in the galley, only to find upon investigation, no-one there.

Rumour also suggests that during the construction of the shipmen working on the hull had been welded inside the vessel and left there to die, only to come back to haunt and curse the ship.

Claims about the ships hauntings and curse do not end with just being on board, it is said horses will not pass the wreck when walking on the beach.

Cray fishermen have reported seeing the oil-skinned clothed ghost standing aboard the ship, and when investigated find no-one there.

Perhaps one of the strangest occurrences is that of Herbert Voight. Voight was a long-distance swimmer who, it is said as part of his training, would tow behind him a plastic baby bath full of Emu Export Beer. Inexplicably during one of his training sessions, he disappeared, thought drowned. Later his skull found, washed up inside the body of the Alkimos.

The ship is often cited as cursed, with many visitors to the wreckage reporting injuries, near-drownings, engines stopping and bad things happening to them after leaving the wreckage, could this be over-active imagination, or is there really something to curse and haunting of the Alkimos?

The Alkimos, after over 40 years of sitting on the Western Australian coastline is now nothing more than a rusted hulk of a ship that often disappears under the high tide, it still sits there, of the coastline of Western Australia, a cursed monument to a decaying ship of death.

Paranormal Investigators: Past & Present: Amanda Maloney

Amanda Maloney W.A.P.R.

Our second guest from West Australian Paranormal Researchers, Amanda Maloney is the team's Case Manager, investigator and researcher.

Amanda found an interest in the paranormal as a young child, but during her teenage years, it scared her, so her interest waned just a little, until a new batch of paranormal related television shows began, which in turn, renewed her interest in paranormal themes and topics once more.

As a child, Amanda used to Astral Travel, and remembers a lot of paranormal phenomena occurring around her, as an adult, and paranormal investigator she has encountered her fair share of action over the years.

Amanda loves being able to match up historical documents and stories with activity the team captures in locations, she also has an interest in the scientific side of investigating, and believes there is more out there than we know or understand

Albany Quarantine Station, which is in the middle of the bush, with no-one around, is one of Amanda’s favourite locations to investigate. Amanda and the team have witnessed many paranormal occurrences at the location, including hearing footsteps, doors opening and banging, and an apparition of a little girl. Also in this location 4 members of the W.A.P.R. Team watched a ball of light try and materialise in front of them.

Amanda wrote this about an investigation at the Albany Quarantine Stations:
“ When we were at the Albany Quarantine station it was just about midnight when things started to happen. Our K2's were going off and we had been hearing footsteps on the verandah outside the room we were in, but we were all there. All of a sudden 3 different people saw a little girl probably around the age of 6-8 looking through the window. People went racing out the door and around either side of the verandah. They met up in the middle and no little girl. The drop off the verandah would have been impossible for anyone to do without injuring themselves but the guys did also check down on the ground and under the building and there was no way a little girl would be out there in the middle of the bush anyway. Around the same time the french doors to the room which also had two chairs in front of them were pushed open.”

Amanda's favourite piece of evidence captured so far, was also caught on her favourite paranormal tool, a recording device.

The team heard a disembodied voice, call out “Mummy!”, and could find no logical explanation for it, the best thing is, the voice was captured on 4 different recording devices and witnessed by 5 separate investigators present at the time.

W.A.P.R. conduct public ghost hunts for members about every 6 weeks. As locations change each time you need to keep an eye on the W.A.P.R. facebook page for when an event is coming up. There is no charge for these hunts.

Stigmata: Hemography

Stigmata: Hemography

For those of you paying attention during our stigmata series, you may remember the word Hemography being briefly described in the short profile on Natuzzo Evolvo and her Stigmata case.
Hemography whilst being associated closely to the Stigmata, is not solely associated with it, but is a paranormal phenomenon all of its own, although it remains one of the lesser known phenomena because it does not receive the same media attention as say, UFO, Hauntings or Near Death experiences, it is still a subject that can be studied by paranormal investigators and scientists alike to try and ascertain its validity as a real and actual event.

So what exactly is Hemography I hear you ask? Well, to put it simply, it is the formation of letters or symbols on walls, cloth, bandages etc, with human blood, done from an unknown or supernatural force.

With Natuzzo Evolvo it involved the bandages that wrapped the wounds of her stigmata, when taken off her wounds the bloodstains would form hieroglyphs of Christian symbols of Jesus, the rosary or other Catholic religious symbolism.

In other documented cases words have been written in blood, in one long string of documented events the words “God is Nowhere” was seen to be written in blood, but more recently this phrase has changed to “God is Now Here”, but who the writer is, none of the people investigating is really sure, but what they do know is that humans are not the ones writing the phrases, it seems to come from an unseen supernatural force, maybe even multiple forces, if they are good, evil or neutral is also unknown.

Hemography is still a relatively unknown phenomenon, and as such has had little or no research done upon it, it has had some exposure through the Television show “supernatural” in recent years, but many people believe it to be a fictional, “made up for television phenomena”, rather than something that is very real in the physical world.

Maybe this article has sparked your interest and you might like to look a little deeper into the phenomena, as per usual with all our Eidolon Paranormal post, we encourage that you investigate for yourself, below is a couple of links to get you started

Below are links to a few case file studies on the phenomena

Stigmata: Padre Pio

The Stigmata of Saint Pio

The 20th of September 1918, A humble Franciscan Padre in Pietrelcina, Italy was blessed with the same marks as His Lord Jesus, the Stigmata

"It all happened in a flash. While all this was taking place, I saw before me a mysterious Person, similar to the one I had seen on August 5th, differing only because His hands, feet and side were dripping blood. The sight of Him frightened me: what I felt at that moment is indescribable. 'I thought I would die and would have died if the Lord hadn't intervened and strengthened my heart which was about to burst out of my chest. The Person disappeared and I became aware that my hands, feet and side were pierced and were dripping with blood" (Ep., V. 1, no. 5 10, p. 1094)

The above was written from Padre Pio to Padre Benedetto in a letter describing the trance he fell into as he prayed at the later after delivering Mass, awakening to find the bloodied marks on his hands and feet and one very painful wound in his side.

At first, Padre Pio felt humiliated by the somewhat painful bleeding wounds, and could not understand why The Lord would wish them upon him, but he came to understand their symbolism and meaning and drew
energy and love from them, of which he used to fortify his beliefs and bless those who came to him.

Over the next 50 years, Padre Pio became very famous as the word of his bleeding hands travelled the globe, Doctors from across the globe visited him to study the phenomena, with little understanding of what was happening.
One of their concerns was the amount of blood Padre Pio would lose whilst bleed. It takes nourishment to produce blood, and Pio was very much known as being a frugal eater, so much so they say his diet at the time would not sustain a small child, but every year as he grew older, his energy would increase, in stark contrast to the amount of blood he lost weekly – another unexplained phenomenon.

Other than the obvious bleeding associated with the stigmata, Padre Pio also suffered another less talked about phenomena, that of the “scourging” and the feeling of the crown of thorns pushed hard upon his head. These were both phenomena he felt on a weekly basis for the rest of his life. On some days of importance, he would feel the crown with much greater force, but Padre Pio knew that the stigmata was an important gift, and dealt with the pain as best he could, not letting on to his parishioners exactly what he was feeling.

On the 23rd of December 1968, at 2:30am, Padre Pio died in his small cell, his wounds healed. He was later buried in a crypt inside the small Church “Our Lady Of Grace: where his body still lays today.

Padre Pio's fame had grown substantially during World War Two, when the Americans had discovered him, during and after this period, thousands began to flock to the small Church in Italy to witness the miracle of the stigmata and be blessed by the Padre.
In Rome, on December 18th, in the Year of Our Lord 1997, Padre Pio was Beatified.
On June 16th 2002, Pope John Paul II declared Pio, born Francesco Forgione, Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina.

Padre Pio is Patron of Civil Defense Volunteers
Padre Pio is Patron of Catholic adolescents

Stigmata: Maria Esperanza de Bianchini

The Stigmata of Maria Esperanza de Bianchini

Born in Venezuela on November 22, 1928, Maria is also known locally as “Servant of God, Maria Esperanza” a title given to one who is thought to be Pius in their religion, and to be investigated by the Holy Roman Catholic Church to be taken towards Sainthood.

Maria was born on the feast of Saint Cecilia in Barrancas, not far from the Orinoco River, she had considered becoming a Nun at one pint, but had a vision on October 3, 1954, that called for her to live the life of a wife, she went on to have seven children and tweny grandchildren!
The vision was that of Saint John Bosco. Saint John told her how she would meet her husband on November 1st 1955, of which she did and, as above, went on to marry and have a large family.
Maria was devoted to St Therese of Lisieux, the “Little Flower” and spent much of her time in prayer for intercession from her.
Many of her followers and the cult that has sprung up about Maria believe in a long list of supernatural knowledge bestowed upon this humble wife from God.
They believe Maria received the gifts of Levitation, Healing, apparition, Discernment of Spirits, Locution, Ecstacy, The Odour of Sanctity ( an unusual effect attributed to many saints where the odour of fresh roses rises from their bodies after death) and the stigmata.
There have been witnesses to her levitation during mass and her bilocation (where a person is in one place but is seen in another at the same time).
Maria was also present, with 150 other people, when Our Lady, The Virgin Mary appeared to people in Finca Betina, Venezuela, which has been authenticated as a real event by the local Bishop and The Holy See.

Maria Esperanza lived with her stigmata, and still ran a household, had children and grandchildren, managed to pray, go to church and do all the humdrum things us normal folk do, so even though the Stigmata is a Holy gift, it did not get in the way of her everyday life.

Maria was also a modern mystic, revealing many prophecies, some have claimed to be eerily accurate, for more on Maria, please follow the links below.

Paranormal Investigators: Past & Present: Jason Dickson

Paranormal EngineerJason Dickson

Today we are going to Melbourne, Victoria to visit Paranormal Investigator and Paranormal Engineer, Jason Dickson of Australian Scientific Paranormal Investigations and also the brainchild, designer and maker of paranormal products at Apparition Technologies.
Jason lived in a family home where being spiritual and having spiritual interests wasn't weird or odd, but embraced and encouraged, with his Mother being involved in a local spiritual group, it was inevitable that her interests would influence Jason’s beliefs.

That influence was obviously a strong one as Jason had many questions, but Mrs Dickson did not always have the answers, because as we all know paranormal phenomena is often mysterious.
Jason’s unanswered questions led him on a voyage of discovery into paranormal investigation which eventually led to him starting his own team, after being in another local team. Jason's team “Australian Scientific Paranormal Investigations”, or ASPI for short, may be newly formed, but are bound for great things in 2013 with many upcoming investigations and projects in the works.
Jason’s thirst for knowledge and investigation also led him to start designing and making his paranormal equipment and establishing “Apparition Technologies”, a company making high-quality specialist paranormal investigation equipment.

Over the years Jason has experienced a number of things one could deem paranormal, but for him personally, the event that sticks out the most was whilst he worked in the Cabrini Hospital

Jason: “ I have had many paranormal experiences, but the one that sticks out to me is while I was working at Cabrini Hospital, I saw a full-bodied apparition that I could have sworn was a living person.”

I asked Jason what his favourite location to investigate, and why?

Jason: “ I would have to say that private residences are my favourite, as I get to help people and also find some really interesting evidence.”
...And isn't that one of the key foundations of paranormal investigation, other than, communication and evidence of the paranormal, helping people, it seems today it is more important to have Facebook
“likes” and have some kind of “celebrity” status attached to your name, putting the “apparition technologies” business aspect aside for a moment (business needs promotion to survive) Jason through my contact with him has proven to be a very humble and respectable individual with an absolute passion for the paranormal that keeps him going when the inevitable jealous attacks from the less successful or jealous come out of the woodwork, just like any community or industry, this kind of human behaviour also exists in the Paranormal community unfortunately

I asked Jason to name three favourite investigation locations and give a little bit of information about each one:

Jason: “The Royal Theatre: App Tech were invited to the Royal Theatre in Castlemaine by our good friends Carmar, and were having strange things happen even when setting up. It’s not often that an old plugin clock alarm that has been away in a box, unplugged, randomly goes off.
My parents’ house was quite impressive to investigate as well! It is situated in a location that may hold significant historic value to our state, and apart from many personal experiences, we had some very significant temperature changes and many hits on the KII meter throughout the night. We have investigated this location a few times now, and each time gets better and better.
Brickworks: We were lucky enough to be shown through this location before major work had started. Not that anything was caught there, just the history of the location and the sights were pretty amazing.”

Paranormal Investigation often leads us to places we would never think about venturing too before, and lets us meet many interesting people, I asked Jason how becoming an investigator changed his life?
Jason: “ Since becoming an investigator, and running Apparition Technologies full time, every day involves the paranormal for me. I have also met some wonderful people, who I wouldn't have met otherwise. “

Many people, including myself, have wondered how Apparition Technologies began and where Jason gets his ideas, this interview gave me the opportunity, and Jason as well, to explore how it all began...
Jason: “Well I was making equipment for myself to use for many years and felt there was a need for high-quality equipment to be made in Australia. I started off just small and it quickly grew. App Tech has now made over 1,500 items and our first birthday is coming up soon (13th April).”

Allen - “Where do you get your inspiration from?”
Jason: “Well it changes with each piece of equipment. Some I have from requests and others I wanted to put out there to make a cost friendly version of some of the US equipment and add features I felt were missing.
Personally, work that Nikola Tesla has done in electronics is amazing and he is someone I have always looked up too.”

Allen “ What is your favourite piece of equipment, and why?"
Jason :“My favourite piece of equipment would have to be the REM-DD, I had started on this piece of equipment before I had started App Tech and to finally have it working as I planned and to be getting great feedback and stories from people that have caught some amazing things with it, is a great feeling.”

Allen “Do you have anything coming out soon you would like to tell us about?”
Jason: “I am currently working on a few new things… The Temp Pods would be the closest to being released at this stage. What it does is monitor the air temp around the device and if there is a sudden drop or rise in temperature, it will display this and alarm."

To finish our interview I asked Jason about media appearances
Allen “Have you appeared on radio, TV or in a magazine, if so, which ones?”
Jason “I have done a few small interviews for small online magazines, and various radio stations in Australia and the US, and ASPI is in the middle of making a small documentary series for local TV.”

So as you can see Jason is a very busy man, and works tirelessly in the paranormal community towards his goal of discovery, helping people and getting his questions answered.

You can find more about this on ASPI’s facebook at:

Stigmata: George H

Stigmata of George H.

In 1985 in Scotland, around the same time as Jane Hunt, a man known simply as George H. received the stigmata, George wasn’t a particularity religious fellow, but at the time he had been studying Saint Francis of Assisi, the first of all stigmata sufferers.
George received his marks, and at the same time, instead of visions of Jesus or Mary, his vision was of the Devil, Satan mocking him, tempting him with favours and promise and with other more unsavoury acts.
George became increasingly ill, and ended up in hospital fed through a feeding tube, it is said the devil would whisper in his ear on a daily basis...

Unfortunately, that’s where the trail ends with George H. from Scotland, with nothing further written about him available online on this stage, did he live? I cannot answer that, but it is very interesting that his vision was not of The Lord or The Virgin Mary, but of the devil. It is a stark contrast to the norm ( if there is one) of stigmata!

Stigmata: Jane Hunt

Stigmata of Jane Hunt

Jane Hunt, a 28-year-old woman from the United Kingdom began to report visions of Christ appearing in her pillow on the 24th of July 1985.
The very next morning, the feast day of Saint James, Jane's hands began to itch and burn uncontrollably, she suffered on and went about her daily routine with a quick visit to the local shops to buy groceries, it was there that she suddenly experienced tremendous pain, like needles, were being pushed through her hands, blood began to flow from her palms although there were no puncture wounds visible.

The wounds would come and go from then on, but around Easter and generally on a Sunday the wounds would become more sensitive.
At a time when they appeared on her hands, they looked somewhat like a blister and would burst spilling her blood, sometimes up to a pint by Jane’s own estimate.
Deep pits or fissures appeared on her hands, but no piercing or puncture wounds were visible, soon Jane’s feet also began to show signs of the Stigmata, and she developed serious debilitating pain in her right side.
More visions began, sometimes she felt as if she was “inside Christ”, she also had a vision of Mary in her house and one vision of being allowed to hold Jesus just after his birth.
Jane also experienced a mentally disturbing vision of the Devil, who tried to undermine her faith and mock Jesus and the Stigmata
Another unusual occurrence was the scent of sweet roses through her house, which was also sensed by her Mother and husband, this is also a scent often detected when a very Pius person dies, and many of the saints who have gone on to have “incorruptible bodies” have had the same smell emanate from them at death.

Jane’s case becomes a little bit more unusual though, as in 1987 she had to undergo a full hysterectomy, from which she recovered nicely, but her stigmata were gone and have not since returned.

Stigmata: Heather Woods

Stigmata of Heather Woods

A remarkable case of Stigmata is that of Heather Woods, why is it so remarkable?
Because this is one of the best-documented cases of The Stigmata in modern, if not all times.
Researchers John and Anne Spencer have put a great deal of their own and time and money into documenting Heather's particular case.
The couple's study has seen them live for three days with Heather as well as accumulate 12 hours of videotaped interviews, over 130, 000 words of dictated memories, access to all of Heather's private diaries where she had written about messages from God, her pain and other writings about her stigmata, as well as having access to all of Heather's writings that she claims are channelled messages from God.

Heather came from a background of child abuse, she was removed from her parents at a very young age, and subsequently abused by her carers, this led the researchers not to trust her psychological health as many people who suffer such trauma at an early age have psychological issues in their adulthood.
Abandonment issues often show themselves in ones adult lives as attention-seeking behaviours, of which Stigmata would certainly fit the bill.

Heather would fall into trance-like states, and begin writing at incredible speeds and drawing pictures of her visions, at the same time her stigmata would appear. She believed wholeheartedly that her writings and vision were given to her by God.
Her writings read like sermons and her pictures would always be of Jesus either being baptised or being crucified.
Heather stated that when she had the Stigmata she felt like she was “inside Christ” upon the cross, and felt herself with him at many times throughout Jesus life in the biblical times. She also felt herself with John the Baptist, she described it as 'It was as if I was there. I could see the water dripping from him, sparkling in the sunlight.'

Unfortunately by the time Heather was 44 she had been in and out of surgery for various organ failures and had most removed, she also suffered from cancer, and her body was a wreck, but she still maintained a sense of dignity, and some witness claim, “holiness” about her in her meetings with people and interviews with the media.
Heather was featured in a 1994 Easter documentary in the USA and is also the subject of at least two books.

Paranormal Investigators: Past & Present: Gwen Fair

Oldest City ParanormalGwen Fair

This week we travel back to the USA to visit Gwen Fair of Jacksonville Florida and her team Oldest City Paranormal.

Gwen first got interested in the paranormal as a young girl, her Dad also had a strong interest in paranormal subjects and was an influence on his daughter becoming involved.
Gwen has always had dreams of passed loved ones and pets, comforting her and offering hope for the afterlife.

Gwen became an investigator to help others understand that paranormal phenomena is very real, but not something to be scared of. It is her goal, like many paranormal investigators, to help others, offer support and find explanations for what is happening to people that come to her team needing assistance.

Gwen is a Co-Founder of the team and has the dual role of researcher and investigator, and often plays the role of Case Manager. This is a team that works well together and is very passionate about what they do.

Gwen's favourite location so far has been The Old Clay County Jail, where the team experienced the most phenomena they have encountered on an investigation so far, including cell doors opening and closing on their own.
Other locations she has enjoyed investigating include St Augustine Lighthouse, where the team captured EVPs of a little girl humming and Gwen had a personal experience of smelling cherry flavoured cigar smoke.
Potters Wax Museum in St Augustine, Florida, is another favourite place where the team experienced knocks on the wall and mysterious sounds from other rooms.

Gwen is a fan of the ITC device, The Spirit Box, because, as she says, “It gives the spirits a chance to contact you or answer your questions through words you can hear right then and there”.

Oldest City Paranormal is looking forward to offering paranormal related courses and tours in the very near future.
You can contact Oldest City Paranormal at oldestcityparanormal@gmail.com or via their facebook page

" Oldest City Paranormal is available for residential or business investigations. We are located in Green Cove Springs, FL but travel around Florida or Georgia to help those who need us. Cases can be kept private upon the homeowner or business owner request. We do provide proof of evidence for the cases we go on, via pictures, cd, DVD and written accounts."
